october 2010 a time of reckoning is when the rulers of the land see if the factions have enough favour to keep hold of their towers. there were many uncomfortable moments when factions thought they may loose their towers! through the endeavours of all, everyone kept their towers, and this event brought out a co-operation between the factions that hadn't been seen before. a mistweaver was released by the factions, and the name of necromancy was once more uttered on orin rakatha. what can this mean? only by attending the next event, the oasis of souls, will the plot be revealed.   the interplanar fayre - july 2010 the summer stars faction hosted this interplanar fayre, with elven themed games and competitions. the fayre itself came to life, when the underhand morgothians tried to usurp its power, but the fayre was saved by tuchi and amigen moonchild. the morgothians were banned, but slyly renamed themselves circle aflame to avoid this, and the halls of asgard were recognised as a new faction as well.   return to devil's island - april 2010 the third of our themed events, saw the factions take on a nautical theme as they journeyed to devil's island, with all the action and adventure you would expect from pirates! with another good turn out from the factions, including the a new group that was growing within the mercenaries called the halls of asgard. herofest larp october 2009 another great end to the year; all of the lrp factions traveled through the newly opened rift to the oriental world of akari island. for more details on this or any of our past live role playing fantasy events click the tab at the top of this page called previous events. we have over 100 players attend and nearly 150 people turn up in total. at the top right of this page are the dates for the three herofest larping events in 2010, we hope to see you at some or all of these. paul matthews herofest larp/lrp herofest larp july 2009 another excellent event, a good turn out from most of the factions. have a look at the larp/lrp gallery at some of the excellent player camps. the overall standard of live role playing has increased as has the standard of costumes and props; well done everyone. herofest larp april 2009 a great start to the year, ten factions represented and lots of action throughout. it looks like we have now got just the right balance between combat missions and non combat missions to keep everyone busy. the addition of faction monster attacks also went down very well particularly for those playing non combatant characters who wanted just the odd fight for a bit of fun. the new yurts at candleston were good and added to the atmosphere in the camps. top marks to everyone for making the effort with their faction areas in particular the wizards concillium and the dymwan. looking forward to july and the interplanar fayre next. herofest larp october 2008 our third and last event of 2008 went very well and we are now planning the three larping events for 2009 and for each and every year . see the plot page for more information. we ran the lrp at candleston and decided that this was going to be the venue for all future events. herofest larp report july 2008 although initially we were only going to run two larp events in the first year we decided to have a third smaller event near gloucester for all those who couldn't make the first event and for a few players who came to the first but weren't going to be able to make the october event. run at stockwood we had a lot of action and introduced a lot of new people to how live role playing works. herofest larp report may 2008 the first herofest larp weekend was the first bank holiday in may 2008. i started herofest because we wanted to try running a very simple player vs player low hit larp system and to have a festival style event where there would always be something for your character to do. i have been larping myself continuously since1983 and have attended many other larp fest style events all of which i enjoyed. however there were two common complaints especially about the larger events. firstly that if you were a member of a large faction you often did not know what was going on and found it hard to be fully involved in the plot. secondly, and i think this has a lot to do with the first problem, that there was never enough to keep people occupied throughout the event. so how to solve these problems; we decided that herofest will never have more than 300 players. we think this is the maximum size we can run the style of larp event we are aiming for and still achieve our aims. also we will limit all the larp factions to 20 players maximum. should the situation arise where people want to bring more than 20 people to a herofest event then they can set up 2 or even more factions. this means that by the end of your first live action roleplaying event you will know all your faction. every herofest larp faction will have a faction representative a leader and a second in command. we will ensure that all 3 of these people work with their faction making sure that everyone knows what is going on and that each member of the faction can be as involved in the larp plot as they want. we then set about making sure that every larp faction has its own political agenda and aims for every herofest event. each event also has its own regular plot and hidden plot as well as numerous competitions and games. to add to all this we give each faction a large number of larping missions to attempt to achieve throughout the event. for the may larp each faction had 20 to start with and another 40 available throughout the event. our larp events so far have been very successful with 90% return bookings. i hope that you will come to one of our weekends and take part in the fun. we now have a larping route finder to get you from your post code directly to candleston. see the top of the page for more details. our first live action role playing event as herofest was at candleston. -- events 10th -
